Dear Parents of Fourth grade students,

The fourth grade teachers at Sunny Ridge Elementary are excited to partner with you to make this year successful and enjoyable for your child.  Below are some ways you can help out at home to encourage your child to do his or her best.

READING: Your child should be reading at home nightly for 20-30 minutes.  Each fourth grade student has been given a goal in Accelerated Reader.  They will need to read both at home and school to reach this goal.  To earn the plaque for success in Accelerated Reader, your child will need to earn at least 100 points.  The Nampa Police Department is also providing a trip to POJO’s in the spring for those students reaching their AR goals. Encourage your child to READ, READ, READ!

MATH: All of the fourth grade classes are working on mastery of multiplication facts by the first of December.  Your child should be practicing nightly.  The single most important thing your child needs to be successful in math in the future is multiplication facts.  If they know their facts, math becomes easy.  If they don’t know their facts, math will always be a struggle. Encourage your child to memorize multiplication facts.

IDAHO HISTORY: This year your child will be studying the history and geography of Idaho.  This is a perfect opportunity to take family field trips to places like Bruneau Sand Dunes, Craters of the Moon, and Shoshone Falls.  Encourage your child to enjoy the beautiful state in which we live.

WAGONS HO: This spring our students will be attending WAGONS HO. Students participate in an exciting day of pioneer activities.  To raise funds for this field trip, fourth grade students will be selling jerky during the lunch hour.  We will also need many parent volunteers the day of the event.

Thank you for all your help and support,
