Math: The students are learning multiplication facts and taking one-minute time tests through our Mastering Math Facts program (we call it Rocket Math because they fill up their rocket as they complete each level).

In Everyday Math the students are learning about multiplication as well, using methods such as arrays and grouping.

Reading: In Open Court we are finishing our unit on City Wildlife and will begin the Imagination unit the week of November 19.

Writing: The students recently completed the first school wide writing sample for the year. In classrooms, they are working on story writing, spelling word sentences and expository (factual) writing.

Language: Currently, the students are learning about prepositions and subjects and verbs.

Social Studies: Our focus in third grade is on Communities.

Science: Currently each class is working on one or more of the science kits—plants and rocks. Animals are also being studied.
