SUNNY RIDGE BOOSTER CLUB

The Sunny Ridge Booster Club is an organization made up of parents of students and other volunteers that donate their time and efforts towards making our school and students successful.  Booster Club members provide countless volunteer hours in our classrooms as well as coordinating, new and fun, fund raising activities which generate funds.  The funds raised through the Booster Club are used to enhance our students’ educational process and the environment in which they learn.

Accomplishments

Because you, as parents, are often involved in these fundraisers, we want you to know what together we have been able to accomplish:

  • Provided funds for the Accelerated Reading program tests and awards.
  • Purchased new playground equipment (have you seen it?)
  • Landscaping projects
  • Professional assemblies
  • New skylights in many rooms to provide natural sun light
  • Teacher Appreciation
  • Teacher supplies; etc.

ART Program

One of the newer educational opportunities the PTA Booster Club has sponsored is the ART program initiated and run by Diane Stucki and Wendy Hamilton.  The ART program allows the students to travel through the marvelous world of art history through hands-on activities using art applications.  If you would like to be an involved parent in this ART program, please contact Diane Stucki at 461-9159.

Involved Parent Opportunities

The Sunny Ridge PTA Booster Club is always looking for new ideas and would love to have you come join our organization.  We meet the first Thursday of every other month beginning in October.  Carnival meetings will be determined as needed in the month of April and May.  The meetings will be posted on the reader board outside the school.  At the Open House you will have the opportunity to become a PTA Booster Club member.  You may also contact Becky Stucki, Booster Club Secretary, at 442-9008, for more information on how you can become a more involved parent in the success of your child’s education.

Three for Me

Three for Me is a PTA program designed to effectively involve parents and families in support of children and their education.  Three for Me welcomes all families into the school community, by letting them know that they are valued and whatever their contribution entails, they can make a difference.  The goal of Three for Me opportunity is to create a simple program that will engage parents to be involved in their child’s educational experience.

Research shows that parent involvement in children’s learning is positively related to achievement and that the more intensely involved parents are the more beneficial the achievement affects are.  Research also shows that the schools with the most successful parent involvement programs are those which offer a variety of ways parents can participate. Recognizing that parents differ greatly in their willingness, ability, and available time for involvement in school activities, these schools provide a continuum of options for parent participation.

To participate in Three for Me, parents and volunteers sign a promise card dedicating three hours of their time to the school.  This can be accomplished in simple tasks, but not limited to, such as:

  • Classroom participation
  • Library book sales
  • Classroom field trips
  • PTA Booster Club participation
  • ART program assistance
  • Fund raising activities
  • Etc. – there are so many opportunities to become involved in the school where your child learns everyday.

Contact Becky Stucki for more information at 442-9008.
