OUR STORY Skyview High School opened in 1996 as the second high school in our growing community. Our campus is located on Greenhurst Road between Sunnyridge Road and South Powerline Road.
Our instructional program focused on the needs of students.
Upper classmen select from a rich array of choices to help them realize their dreams for “Grade 13” or life beyond high school. Those choices include career-oriented academies, rigorous college-level courses, professional technical programs, general studies, and more. To learn more about our high school program click here.
Our high school offers competitive sports and fine arts programs.
Skyview is home to the district’s health occupations academy as well as the building construction program. Our students also can choose the specialty programs available at our other two high schools and we regularly transport students to those sites so they can pursue these excellence programs.
Skyview Debaters Excel at Round Robin
On January 8 & 9, Skyview High School competitive speakers and debaters competed against students from 12 Treasure Valley high schools at the Treasure Valley Round Robin Championship hosted by Centennial High School.
The Skyview High students competed in Lincoln Douglas Debate, Public Forum Debate, Duo & Humorous Interpretation, Salesmanship, Retold Story, and Original Oratory. The Skyview students were excelling in their events, however, just as the quarterfinal round in debate was underway and before the finals of speech events could occur, a massive power outage caused the tournament to end early. Students received recognition for their standing in the tournament at the time the lights went out.
Leading the team was the Public Forum debate team of Madison Watson & Esbeida Ramos and the Lincoln Douglas debater, ChaRee Duff, who were all competing in the quarterfinal round when the outage occurred. Juniors Maxwell Cannon & Chris Carlson were in 1st place in Duo Interpretation. Carlson also ended the tournament in 6th place in Humorous Interpretation. Junior David Weatherby was in 3rd place and sophomore Kaity Clements was in 7th place in Original Oratory. Other Hawks made their mark, arguing intensely and speaking eloquently but did not receive official recognition at this highly competitive tournament.
The Hawks compete next on January 22 & 23 at the Eagle Classic.
Participating Hawks were as follows: ChaRee Duff – Lincoln Douglas Debate & Original Oratory Esbeida Ramos – Public Forum Debate Caity Spence – Lincoln Douglas Debate & Salesmanship Kaity Clements – Original Oratory Madison Watson – Public Forum Debate & Retold Story Chris Carlson – Duo Interpretation & Humorous Interpretation Maxwell Cannon – Duo Interpretation David Weatherby - Original Oratory
