Our Story
Sherman Elementary School is a newer school in an old Nampa neighborhood. We
opened in 1995 to replace the more than 80-year-old East Side Elementary
School.
At one time our location would have been considered east Nampa, but as our city has grown our neighborhood has
become part of central Nampa. Our school is tucked onto a large parcel
bordered by Powerline, Amity, and Sherman roads and the railroad tracks.
Sherman is a
welcoming, caring place where students in grades K-5 master the essential
skills in preparation for a lifetime of learning. Our students also learn the
building blocks of science, social studies, citizenship, and health
complimented by art, music, and physical education in a comprehensive
curriculum.
We serve a diverse community of students by focusing on the individual
child’s needs. We work actively to involve parents in our school and more than
50 percent of parents volunteer time at our school.
