Award winning: Teachers recognized for making a difference

Teachers don’t join the profession to win awards; they want to help students on the path to their dreams. In their professional pursuits, the innovative work of our teachers is recognized by their peers nationally and in Idaho. Some recent award winners include:

 

§         Nampa High School Scott Woolridge: District III Football Coach of the Year

§         Nampa High School John Gregory: District III Co-Athletic Director of the Year

 

 

Endeavor Elementary School third grade teacher Claudia Borud was named a 2008 Outstanding "Resilience Builder" by the National Association of School Psychologists in November 2007.

East Valley Middle School’s Director of Athletics Cass Herbst was chosen for the Distinguished Service Award from the National Interscholastic Athletics Administrators Association in December 2007.

Nampa High School's Tom Stone received an honorary doctorate of fine arts from Northwest Nazarene University Oct. 20, 2006. He is the Director of Bands at Nampa High School and will celebrate his 30th year of teaching for the Nampa School District.

Darlene Wethered, right, was presented with a lifetime of service award in October by Charlie Silva, left, President of the Idaho Council for Children with Behavior Disorders. Wethered joined Nampa schools in 1979 and currently teaches at South Middle School.
